The Ihpetonga Ball 1888
 

 Brooklyn's Social Event
 
 
 

The great social event of Brooklyn, the Ihpetonga ball, took place last evening in the assembly rooms of the Academy of Music and in the art rooms adjoining. Dancing was in the art rooms, which were most tastefully decorated by Weir.

Besides the floral decorations, handsome Gobelin tapestries were hung about the walls. The music was by Stub's orchestra, the members of which were concealed behind a mass of palms and cut flowers. Pinard served the supper in the large assembly room at small table. This room was decorated with evergreen trees. The German began at 1:30, and was led by Amory S. Carhart, with Mrs. William S.P. Prentice. The committee consisted of J.Jay Pierrepont, Charles E. Bill, Jr., Amory S. Carhart, and Arthur M. Hatch, and the lady patronesses were Mrs. Alfred C. Chapin, Mrs. Henry D. Brookman, and Mrs. Charles A. Robbins.
