The Ihpetonga, a social
organization in Brooklyn similar
in character to the Patriarchs
of New York, held a very
successful reception and ball at
the Assembly Rooms, in Brooklyn,
last evening. The society is
composed of 50 gentlemen living
on Brooklyn Heights. By its
rules, which permit each member
to invite five friends, the
attendance at a ball can never
exceed 250 persons. The
restriction thus imposed
practically confines the
invitations to the Heights, the
old Indian name for which has
been selected as that of the
society.
The maximum number of persons
were at the ball last evening.
