There have been no large public
balls during the last week to
agitate society, therefore the
devotees of the dance have been
obliged to content themselves
with amusements of a milder
nature. The success of the last
subscription ball has induced
the managers to arrange for
another, to be given during the
month of March. Mrs. Ripke, of
136 Amity street, gives a large
ball and German tomorrow night.
Invitations have been issued to
over a hundred guests. The most
notable wedding of the week was
that of Mr. Edward Maxwell Reid
to Miss Fannie Fairchild Edson,
at Christ Church, followed by a
reception at the residence of
the bride's parents, 98 Third
place.
Aronte Social
The Aronte Social gave a full
dress reception at the residence

9
The Assembly Rooms, in
Washington street, were filled

Relief Corps No. 9 auxiliary to
Frank Head Post, No. 16, G.A.R.
The corps is composed entirely
of ladies, whose object it is to
relieve the widows and orphans
of deceased and disabled

Young People's Entertainment
The closing entertainment under
the present management of the
Young People's Association of
Dr. Cuyler's Church took place
last Wednesday in the Sunday
school hall, and was largely
attended. Those who volunteered

Wilkinson, contralto; Mr.
Charles H. Thompson, tenor, and
Mr. John T. Sanders, basso. The
pianist was Mr. Perley jervis;

A most enjoyable party took

The parlors in the residence of

filled with a merry company
recently, the occasion being a
banquet given by that lady. The

A Children's Party
A large children's party was
given recently at the residence
of Mrs. William T. Haigh, No.
435 Seventh street, by her
daughter, Miss Annie. Over two
hundred children were present
from 4 to 8 o'clock. The evening
was occupied in dancing and
different games. A children's
German was led by Mr. V.B.L.
Pearce and Miss Annie Haigh. The
costumes of the children were
elegant, and in some instances
picturesque. Mrs. W.T. Haigh was
attired in blue brocaded velvet,
trimmed with blue steel beads
and feathers, a creation of
Worth's. Mrs. Allison Van Brunt
wore a black satin dress, with
diamond ornaments. Miss Annie
Haigh was dressed in white lace
over pink satin.

A meeting of the St. Barnabas
Library Association held
